19b. Tank Traps One evening event in the Gage-Tyler series, Peter Lyle, hid in the tank training grounds just near Sandhurst. As the tanks had generally churned up the area there was little in the line of cover for Peter. However, he had found a galvanised steel corrugated drainage pipe and stuffed himself up there, pulling in some old canvas and rags after him. We had great trouble finding a way into the area, and then close in, due to the steel tank track systems laid in the ground to support the tanks, but which really upset compasses.
